Sportality and SBL Herr renews partnership

Sportality and the Swedish Basketball League – Men (SBL Herr) have entered into a renewed multi-year partnership regarding the league’s digital solution – an initiative that strengthens basketball’s digital presence and enhances the experience for both teams and fans.

Agreement History

On July 1, 2021, SBL Herr signed a four-year strategic agreement for the Sportality Platform.

At that time, the league became Sportality’s first customer in the new generation of the platform. The web solution was initially introduced for the league with a framework agreement for the clubs; over time, all clubs have recognized the benefits of being part of a larger digital ecosystem, and today every club’s site is included in the agreement.

Solutions and Innovations

Sportality has developed a powerful integration with the basketball statistics system, aimed at increasing interest in basketball and automating much of the content on the websites. This not only saves time for the league and the clubs but also provides basketball fans with an enhanced experience, featuring engaging statistics to deepen their interest before, during, and after the games.

The platform serves as the digital hub for the league and its clubs, channeling various forms of interaction such as articles, highlights, ticket purchases, live streaming of games, and memberships.

With a unified look and dedicated revenue stream solutions, the league’s brand is strengthened, resulting in more fans attending matches in arenas and watching on TV.

Operating with a small and efficient organization and strong support from the clubs, the league has achieved impressive results. This has led to growing interest in both the sport and the league, with attendance figures, media coverage, and the number of teams increasing season after season.

Future Visions

The parties have signed a new three-year agreement for the Sportality Platform, underscoring their shared ambition to further develop and modernize the experience for both teams and fans.

Both SBL Herr and Sportality look forward to jointly realizing ambitious digital visions and strengthening basketball’s position on the national and international stages.

Mattias Wackenhag, League Director for SBL Herr, states:

“We are very satisfied with our agreement with Sportality, and it was largely a ‘no-brainer’ to extend the collaboration. Sportality has always been a key partner in our digital development. Now that all clubs are part of a unified web solution, the benefits are clear. We look forward to the coming years with great optimism.”

Martin Bergh, CEO of Sportality, comments:

“We are proud to extend our partnership with SBL Herr. This agreement reflects our mutual commitment to driving innovation and future-proofing the digital platform for Sweden’s premier basketball league, a move we believe will contribute to both current and future successes.”

Ahead of the 2025/2026 season, SBL Men will be expanded with Sloga Basket from Uppsala, increasing the league to eleven teams.

Currently, the finals series of the Playoffs is being played between Norrköping Dolphins and Borås Basket.
